Memberships for attendees

How to launch memberships for your community: tiers with prices and perks, auto-renewal through Monobank and a Telegram channel the bot lets only members into.

What a membership in AOA is

If you run a community, not just one-off events, AOA lets you launch memberships for attendees. These are your organization's own membership tiers with a price and a set of perks, like Patreon, but integrated with events, posts and a Telegram channel.

Membership tiers

You can create as many tiers as you like. Each one has:

  • A name and description: for example, Friend, Insider, Inner Circle
  • A color: for visual recognition
  • A pricing type: free, one-time payment, monthly or yearly
  • A separate yearly price: for monthly memberships, you can set a discount if the member pays for a year in advance
  • Manual approval: you can require moderation of every membership application
  • Application questions: custom form fields (as for events)
  • Visibility: published, hidden or draft
  • A linked Telegram channel: optional

Payments and renewal

For paid memberships, AOA keeps a separate billing state:

  • Payment through Monobank
  • Automatic renewal of monthly and yearly memberships
  • Statuses: active, pending (awaiting approval), past_due, cancelled, expired
  • Vouchers and coupons for memberships
  • A separate fee and revenue report for memberships

A curated Telegram channel with the AOA bot

You can link your Telegram channel or group to a membership tier. The AOA bot manages access automatically:

  1. Add the AOA bot as an admin of your channel or group
  2. Confirm ownership (the bot gives you a verification code that you paste into the channel description)
  3. Link the channel to a specific membership tier
  4. When a member pays, the bot gives them a personal invite link
  5. When the membership ends or is cancelled, the bot removes the member from the channel

The bot keeps a separate OrganizationTelegramMember list with each member's status (invited, joined, kicked, left) for auditing and restoring access.

What membership tiers give

Depending on your settings, a tier can give:

  • Access to the organization's private posts
  • Announcements of and registration for private events (members only)
  • Ticket discounts through coupons tied to the tier
  • Access to the Telegram channel
  • Any other perks you describe in the tier details
