Promotion, promo codes and referral discounts
How to promote an event in AOA: the catalog and map, QR codes for posters, coupons and promo codes, a two-sided referral discount, Telegram announcements and calendar subscriptions.
Built-in promotion channels
- The AOA event catalog: public events appear on the map and in the event list automatically
- The event page: a separate public page with the description, program, speakers and a registration form
- The event QR code: for printing on flyers and posters or showing on the venue's screens
- Referral links: a unique URL for each attendee to invite friends
Promo codes and coupons
AOA has two levels of discounts:
- Event coupons: valid only for a specific event. You can limit them by ticket type, number of uses and validity period
- Organization coupons: valid for all events of your organization
Discount types:
- FREE: a completely free ticket with a code
- PERCENT_OFF: a percentage discount (for example, 20% off)
- AMOUNT_OFF: a fixed discount in hryvnias
- UNLOCK_ONLY: unlocks a hidden ticket type without changing the price
Each code can be limited to a maximum number of uses and tied to a specific ticket type.
Referral discount
One of the strongest tools for growing your audience. How it works:
- You create a referral discount for the event (a percentage or an amount)
- Every attendee who bought a ticket gets their own unique referral link
- When a friend buys through that link, both of them get a discount
- The referral discount can be limited by number of uses or tied to a specific ticket type
Private events by link
If you don't publish the event in the catalog, access works only through the direct URL. This is handy for:
- Small events for your own people
- Corporate parties and private presentations
- Events for members of your community (see subscriptions)
Announcements through the Telegram bot
Attendees who have subscribed to your organization's notifications automatically get announcements of new events in Telegram from the AOA bot. If you've connected your own Telegram channel with memberships, an announcement post can be shown only to members of a certain level (see posts and announcements).
Subscribing to the organization's calendar
On the public page of an organization or venue, guests see a "Subscribe to calendar" button. It's a webcal feed (.ics) supported by Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook. After subscribing once, all the organization's upcoming events appear in the guest's calendar automatically, with no extra steps on their side. Every update (a new event, a date change, a cancellation) syncs in the background.
It's one of the strongest channels for keeping your audience: a guest who subscribed once gets your events right in their own calendar, next to their work meetings.
The feed works on three levels:
- A single event: the guest adds one specific event
- A venue: all upcoming events at a specific venue
- An organization: all your upcoming events, wherever they take place
Promotion tips
- Publish the event at least 2 weeks before the date
- A good cover with clear information increases the view rate
- Talk about Early Bird in the first 3 days after publishing: it encourages early purchases
- Turn on the referral discount and announce it on the day sales open
- Invite your CRM audience: guests who came to your previous events convert best
